| Superwash fiber takes many dyes beautifully. I normally use Jacquard Acid Dyes and they work fine for me. We are trying the Dharma Dyes, but I like the Jacquard dyes better. I have also used RIT and the fiber took all the dye leaving a nearly clear water. I often soak my roving in a fairly strong hot vinegar bath before dropping the fiber into the dyepot, this gives a variegated dye job. I would also use this method for wetting the fiber before painting it with the dye. I also just drop the dry roving into the pots for a wider variation of color. |

| The wool or wool blend specially dyed fibers do not have the sheen that the superwash does. Shipping is high so 4 ounce orders are best combined with larger orders. We cannot weigh up many colors to make up a 1 1/2 pound order. It must be made up of one dyelot. For many colors, you must order 4 oz ,8 oz, or l lb orders. |

If there is enough of a color to send a monochromatic array of one color you can request it....but we will not be doing custom dyeing to get that color for you. We would then fill out the order with the next closest colors. I use only the Mohair Mill Ends for this product. The price of #1 Mohair is very high. |

| When I am dyeing the rovings I use strong dyes. If they show signs of not absorbing all the dyes, I begin adding fibers to the pots to take up the excess dyes. I call these dye soppers. They are #1 fibers, wool and occasionally mohair or a blend. They are good for blending, for spinning if you like spinning from handfuls, or they are good for felting. This is a sample of dye soppers from a few days dyeing...you never know what color will appear. You get a mixed bag of color and these may vary from the photo. For me to Specially Dye you one color in these fibers, order the Specially Dyed.... |
